A shared family moment, said out loud
Said & Heard is a free app that guides a family through a daily moment where each person says out loud what went well and how they feel now.
Also available for Android on Google Play: Said & Heard
The four questions
What went well today in your own actions? What are you pleased with?
What went well today with others? What are you pleased with?
What nice thing will you remember from today?
What feeling do you have right now?
How it works
You gather together, ideally in the evening.
Each person answers four questions out loud in turn, including the adult.
The app gives the structure and follow-up questions; you talk together.
Why we made this
Strengthening emotional skills is worthwhile in every family, and adults skills are not always strong either. Said & Heard is a low threshold way to start an effective emotional skills practice and to create a new way of talking about feelings in the family. It is especially valuable when family dynamics have been damaged and the parent has no capacity to plan how to repair the situation. It does not replace professional help and is not trauma treatment.
The story behind this
Said & Heard is peer developed. Behind it is a mother who has experienced intimate partner violence and survived it. The exercise grew out of her own familys everyday life in 2022 and has been in use ever since, on ordinary days and through heavier periods. It does not require processing difficult things: it focuses on the present moment and on good things.
Children do not use the app themselves. It is a parent tool; children take part by speaking, not on the screen.
We do not collect any data about children and we do not store childrens answers. We store only your account, session completions and your own ratings.
No AI. The content is written by a human, and the moment happens between people, face to face.
